Our Story

Five decades, one table.

Gervasoni's opened its doors in 1975 in downtown Modesto, on a quiet alley that locals came to know simply as "on the Alley." Gary Gervasoni built a steakhouse with a Basque heart — a place where farmers, ranchers, and families gathered for hand-cut beef, generous portions, and a stiff drink at the bar.

In 2017 we packed up the booths, the light fixtures, the long wooden bar, and even the fireplace, and moved them to our McHenry Avenue home. The table numbers came with us. Regulars still call ahead and ask for "their" booth — and we still know exactly which one they mean.

Today, mother-and-daughter owners Rosalie Hernandez and Serena Sisson keep the kitchen, the bar, and the welcome going strong. Same recipes. Same hospitality. Same Gervasoni's.

One Day a Week

Wednesday
Prime Rib.

We roast prime rib one day a week — and one day only. Eighteen ounces, slow-roasted and hand-carved, served with au jus, vegetables, and your choice of side.

And the Basque-country cooking Gervasoni's was built on hasn't gone anywhere — those classics now rotate through our daily specials, right alongside the regular menu. Ask your server what's on today.
